guys are for your starters, do you use a log starter, (propane). If you do, do you leave the log starter in the fire box the entire time. I know you will turn the gas off when the fire is going on its own, I am asking about the actual "log starter" bar. Do you pull it out after the fire is going on its own or leave it in place at the bottom of the fire box?

That would depend on if were built in type or not. A lot of people use a weedburner to get a fire going. Some light a chimney of charcoal on a fryer and use it for a base of coals to start a fire. Lots of different ways. The only gas starter that should be left in a firebox is a properly plumbed one that is made to be left in there. :D

I finally got someone on the phone from a pit builder. they said they personally take the lighter out after the fire has started. They said if you choose to leave it inside the fire box, they recommend turning it upside down so the ashes will not fall inside the bar.
