Franks or Louisiana Hot Sauce? Others?

Postby Gator » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:03 pm

I heard a lot of folks swear by Franks sauce, so I got a bottle and after using it for several months....I went back to my old standby, Louisiana Hot Sauce. As far as Louisiana style sauces go (red vinegar) its my favorite.

What about you? :stir: :D

me personally m not the biggest fan of a vinegar based hot sauce like the Tabasco kind. now, the wife seems to enjoy the following ones..... Franks, Texas Pete and a bit of Louisiana hot sauce. another one is Cholula. but she likes that mixed in with tartar sauce.

Louisiana or Franks either one. I keep Tabasco on hand but I am not really fond of it. have tried lots of different brands of these vinegar reds but always drift back to the two you ask about.

I bought a bottle of Cholula Chipotle and have been mildly surprised by how good it is. Then again it was pricy. Not a fan of Franks Red Hot or the other buttery sauces. Don't really have a fav but I've been known to have a bottle of Dave's Insanity sauce nearby. Tabasco will work in a fix. Still searching for the recipe to Fire Water, a southwest Native American or Mexican sauce I had once upon a time that was clear as water but would light you up. The Mrs, Taco Bell mild please.

I use Tobasco on eggs, louisiana (mixed with some things) on chicken wings and for everything else that needs a kick I use siracha (amazing stuff).

I just don't like vinegar sauce, So don't use them. I do like and use dried and ground Chile Pequin Powder. Use it in place of hot sauce. Have to make it myself. CF :D
OK, get over it, you lost. God bless America

IF given the choice between Tabasco, and Louisiana I'll take Louisiana every time, and my favorite Louisiana style sauce is Chrystal if I can't get Franks Extra Hot. Franks is ok but Franks EXTRA HOT is awesome and my absolute favorite of the Louisiana type sauces. Cholula is really good but I have found another that has a very similar flavor called San Louis that is 1.00 for a liter that I use allot of.
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

95% of the time I use Crystal, but I like Tabasco a lot too. I've never tried Frank's, but you couldn't find it around here until recently.

No doubt, Louisiana Hot Sauce. They also make a good wing sauce that we keep on hand as well.

I like the Cholula.

I had the Fire Water once and thought it was amazing. I had it in Mexico. Let me know if you find the recipe.
