Hi Power,
Ummm, I can't lie, I'm partial to the Akorn only because I've had one for over a year and I'm obsessed with it.
It's made very well for the $ and you can cook, grill, sear, smoke, bake whatever u want on it.
It holds heat like there's no tomorrow, and not dry heat. Kamado style cookers/smokers are known for using less water pans and evenly cooked / smoked foods.

I just posted a burger pic of dinner tonight.
Check it out, u might like what you see.
Good luck on your decision and definitely post some good eats on your cooks ok :)

Ok, here's the scoop on the above question.
Is the cover an ( Akorn ) cover or aftermarket ?
If it's a Akorn from Char Griller, it's waterproof and works very well.
I keep mine outside all year under a cover and I live in harsh elements, Pocono mountains in Pa.
Also, always keep the ash pan emptied as much as you can and use LUMP charcoal, not briquettes.
They burn cleaner, hotter, and last longer. Plus, u can re lite any lump that's not spent.

I highly recommend spraying Pam periodically in the ash pan after its wiped out.

Very important::::

If u forget to cover it and it gets wet, take the ash pan out and make sure it's not retaining water.

Its double walled and holds water that u can't see and will cause rust over time.

Mines a year old and looks like new. Just need to take care of it.

Yeah its a akorn cover! I can build a small leanto roof from the fence posts. Might stop the rain a bit, and or 44c summers

Ours is out on the deck and rained on all of the time and that cover you have works great.

I see it comes with the Akorn stone too.

That's a great accessory. Best pizza u will ever make.
As with any kamado, there is a learning curve but once u figure it out you will love it.

That's a fair price.
I've seen that package both higher and lower.

I found Lowe's to have the Best deal

Don't make it any harder on urself than it needs to be lol.
I did the same thing, looked at every type of Kamado from the Green Egg to the Akorn I have now.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. It just Depends on what you want to use it mainly for and how much loot you are up for spending.
For me, $ and accessories were the main decider.
