REAL DEAL Mexican Street tacos

Postby TwoGuysBBQ » Sat Mar 04, 2017 10:30 am

I have lived in San Antonio all my life and have made several trips across the Texas border and even baja California border. That's where I was introduced to Bistek Tacos. Well I found the Real Deal taco stand here at home. They even have the same ordering system that I experienced in Mexico. You walk up order what you want as many times as you want. When your done you go up to the counter and tell them how many you threw down and what you drank and pay. Tacos are average $1.25 each and all come with grilled peppers, grilled onion and sliced radishes. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting San Antonio.

It's on my list when we visit in April. One of our faves is Taco House on San Pedro. Always crowded

Yes Sir, I believe that's on Rigsby just inside loop 410.
if its the one I'm thinking about, that place was a bar and that guy started cooking and selling chicken out of a trailer out back behind then bar. Well more traffic started showing up for the chicken than the beer. The guy bought the bar and turned into the restaurant that it is today. He makes good Burgers too!
I talked to the guy cooking on the grill one day and he told me that from Friday to Sunday he will cook over 1200 yard birds. Not to mention what he cooks during the week.

I wanted to say the 1200 bird figure, just could not imagine that kind of business, but it was excellent grilled chicken, rice, tortillas and a drop dead grilled onion, so good I give consideration to making the drive just to go eat
you are right it is on rigsby, couldn't remember the street name, I would certainly eat there if I was a regular in your city.

Thanks for posting this with pictures. It reminds me of traveling and crossing over to Nuevo Laredo (when it was safe) and walking down the main street just over the border. You could smell the tacos and even better was the smell of fresh backed bolillo's.
