Wood in Alaska

Postby Q'N Dawg'z » Tue May 09, 2017 8:06 pm

Hey guys I just moved to the Wasilla, Ak area from Texas and have no clue what wood is used up here for BBQing. I normally use Oak and mix a little peach in when doing pork and chicken but those are non existent up here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Birch and alder are about the only woods safe for BBQ up there, but they burn up quickly, so they are not great. Lump charcoal with your preferred wood chunks might be the best option.
