Beat down, but a good beat down...

Postby Okie Sawbones » Thu Jun 08, 2017 9:15 pm

We're all beat tonight. We didn't pick yesterday because I went to the VA. Today we picked 140 lbs. of tomatoes, 26 lbs. of summer squash, 5 lbs. of okra, 4 lbs. of green beans, and Lord only knows how many lbs. of pickling cucumbers (30-40?). We put up 15 quarts of diced tomatoes, 12 half pints of paste, 11 quarts of pickles, froze sliced okra in 1 lb. bags, blanched and froze 4 lbs. of green beans, and begged off on squash and pickle relish until tomorrow morning. We are going to crock 5 gallons of larger cukes Saturday. We have two other crocks going. Love them big crock pickles. Man it takes a lot of tomatoes to make paste -- 40 lbs. made 12 half pints of paste. Garden gone wild. The Roma tomatoes are growing 4-6 in a cluster, and some of our Better Boys are topping a pound each.

Time for 3 fingers of adult beverage.

WOW!! I'm beat down/worn out reading your post. I just got out of the shower. I think I need to take another one.
