Chiquilin Smoked Paprika
Good afternoon all !!
Was just wondering if any of yutes ( name that movie ) lol, have ever tried this particular Spanish Smoked Paprika ?
I just ordered some and was curious obout how good this really is ?
The reviews are thru the roof, but I'd like to hear from a ( real ) person, not just the internet reviews.
Ive read it's completely different than Hungarian Paprika which i like too.
Thx all,
Carry On

No, but I really like the idea of a sealed can to preserve the freshness. Please let us know what you think.

I agree, and from what i read it doesn't take forever to try to get the lid on and off like some of the old Cinnamon containers they use to make. That used to drive me insane.outlaw wrote:No, but I really like the idea of a sealed can to preserve the freshness. Please let us know what you think.
I'll definitely report back, should have it by tomorrow. Next up is a good Saffron which I've not found in the grocery store. It all seems just soso without any flavor.

I normally buy any of my more exotic spices from an Amish spice wholesaler. I just checked with them and they only offer a very small portion, and it is currently out due to the fact everything they sell is fresh, I mean like that day. I did find this, a pretty good read for all things saffron. This stuff is so expensive I'm sure I have never tasted the genuine article.

I get my saffron from local Indian spice guy. I use it in my curries and its good for giving your rice a light yellowy colour to rice. I use it for detail in my cooks. I have smoked paprika but no brand.

That looks like the real deal from that pic. Out of curiosity, how do you preserve it?

That's as I bought it, the small container it's in is air tight, I think I paid $12 for that pack, I've used about 20 strands. It really is amazing stuff, the worlds most expensive spice.

We once tried to grow the saffron crocus, but you need about a million of them, and they didn't thrive.

I watched a programme on TV, they had huge fields of plants, the picking time was only a period of about 2 days to harvest the gold.

When Y'all get to talking about Spices, I am really humbled - - - I am so simple when it comes to them so if it ain't salt, pepper, cayenne, store bought Cajun or SuckleBusters then I ain't got and don't use.
