Vegetarian Burger

Postby rickhdz36 » Tue Aug 01, 2017 6:43 am

I don't know if you guys have seen that "Impossible Burger" that Hop Doddy made out here in Austin but my sister in law is vegan  and we convinced her to take the plunge and try it. It suppose to look just like meat and be as close to a meat flavor? i think. I did not ask for a bite. But it did look like meat but it smelled like steamed vegetables to me. This thing even bleeds lol Apparently there is beets in it to produce the "red blood" which I don't think any burger i eat bleeds lol

She said it was ok but my mother in law and grandmother in law (both vegetarian) said its close to meet that they have had. "Which I laughed and said when was the last time you had meat?" Grandma responds with 25 years ago. I guess from what I got from her was she became a vegan to stay away from anything that resembles meat or taste like it. So she wouldn't get it again. Which makes me wonder if others are like that too. Because my mother in law and grandma said the same thing but they ain't vegan lol

So who REALLY made this burger? Vegetarians or meat lovers looking to have their GF/BF/Husband/Wife slowly convert to meat? lol

Long read but I thought I would share this tale of the "Impossible Burger" :cow:

Here is the only pic I got of it

OUP yeah thats what the other in laws had was the black bean burger and they said it was really good .

Place is actually pricey but their burgers and fries are good and the beer is really freaking cold! Fries could probably be shared between a couple being that they give you a lot. For My son, wife and me came out to about 50 bucks. Thats with fries for each of us and a big draft beer for me.

Daughters in law was vegetarian for years, used to tick me off doing special meals on a Sunday. About 3 years ago, I stopped doing special foods and just did veges. Then she said she would try some lamb I did, she now first to line up for meat now. I tease her a lot now.

Not too shabby. A cousin of mine who happens to be a vegetarian sometimes eats vegetarian sausage and patties. She told me that sometimes she misses the savory taste or umami close to meat products that vegetables are lacking.
Looking forward to more camping trip with my family. I need a new tonneau cover to secure my equipment and pit.

I would recommend to try it then! I thinks its like one of the things that people can try when they crave something like meat but once their craving is taken care of they are good for a couple years lol

my Step-son has been a Vegan for so long that any kind of meat product will make him sick - - - the reason I know is because I've been guilty of using meat stock in some beans once when they were here - - - - I never told him but I did feel guilty when I found out what happened later :whiteflag: :banghead:
