Air fryer???

Postby outlaw » Fri Dec 29, 2017 9:52 am

My wife wants one, seems to think it is the next best thing to sliced bread, but I have no knowledge. Anyone here able to shed some light on this?

I've ?kinda? looked into them but decided that a convection oven would do the same "healthy" thing EXCEPT not blow Hot Air on my Food - - hence Drying it out more :dont:

Personally I think they are just a lot of Hot Air :whiteflag: :dont: :laughing7: :D  (pun entended)

We have one! It's now the only way (INDOORS that is) we make chicken drums and in fact are making a batch today with SB Wang Dust. :laughing7:

We tested it out on a lot of things, like bread, brownies, baking potatoes, cornish hens, and concluded that it will perform best in weather when you don't want to run the regular oven, and for quickly cooking things like frozen fries or coconut shrimp.

It's big and noisy. But it does work. Somewhere around here is a post with pics. Maybe I can find it.

This is the one we are looking at after reading lots of reviews: Philips Airfryer, Avance Digital TurboStar, Fry Healthy with 75% Less Fat, HD9641/96, Black

Counter and cabinet space is a premium at our house because of all the "new" things we just thought we had to have. Is this really worth it?

We don't keep ours on the counter, and it's not a Phillips. But I did find the old thread.

My Father in Law said he wanted us to get him one for Christmas because he wanted perfect crispy French fries.

The Mother in Law informed me of I bought him a gadget she had to cook with I wouldn’t see a homemade apple pie again for quite sometime.

That was the end of my research

Ha, it would have been mine too.

Sailor, I found it already. I'm really torn about this. I think I'll go have a Heim BBQ lunch and think it over. http://heimbbq.com/menu/

We got our air fryer several months ago. Not a week goes by that we don't use it for something. Frozen french fries are great. Homemade ones CAN be great if you take the time to blanch them first. They'll turn out crisp outside and fluffy inside. Frozen onion rings, check. Making your own cracklins, check. Rewarming fried chicken, check. Although I bought an accessory kit containing a baking rack, cake pan and several skewers, we haven't used any of them. You like roasted hot dog weenies? Check, and while they are finishing, put a couple of hot dog buns in the basket to toast up.
