Boots wrote:Why thank you all most kindly, just another ring in this gnarly old tree. One of the privileges I reserve on my birthday is to decimate the kitchen any way I want and cook whatever I wanna.

This year, Prime Rib, mashed Irish taters, and grilled Brussels Sprouts. Wife made a lucious apple crisp too, which I savored with a fine Texas bourbon, TX.

HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU ALL, each and every one, from New Zealand to Maine to Texas :texas: and beyond!

And a big shout out to the mascot of the TXBBQF; the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. May the Big Man’s blessing be upon you this and every New Year.

I've been on my hols in the whop whops, no TV or wifi, just read this.
Happy birthday boots, love your posts and your prose. Grub looks brilliant. Hope you had a great day brother.

I gotta ask... what is a whop whop?? Sounds like the sounds my dear departed Mom used to make when she’d “whop” those canned biscuits against the counter top!
BE WELL, BUT NOT DONE
Hank: "Do you know how to jumpstart a man's heart with a downed power line?"
Bobby: "No."
Hank: "Well, there's really no wrong way to do it."

Same as you say out in the country away from civilisation, we call it out in the whop whops. Was great no TV and phones or anything. Took me back to my childhood. Hope you had a great day.
