T-t-t-t-texas Winter Weather

Postby OldUsedParts » Tue Jan 16, 2018 9:04 am

Brrrrrrrrrr - - - it's been sleeting and light snow flurries since last night - - - currently at 8am we are at 26 F only three degrees below "their" predicted high of 29 F for the Day. Sure am glad there's Tater Soup, Chili and Gumbo leftovers in the Frig. "I will survive" :drunk:  :texas:

We sat there and listened to the sleet pop the windows last night. Kids were mighty disappointed when school wasn’t canceled but the roads were just fine from Little Elm to Carrollton.

My East Texas family is getting popped with old man winter though.

HAHAHA, I was wondering how long it would take before the REAL WINTER WORLD spoke up :laughing7: :D
After living in Colorado at 10,000' and HAVING to plug our Cars into 110 every night so the motor heaters would make it possible to go to work and the oil wasn't the consistency of raw honey, I am almost ashamed to say that I am ever cold in Texas. Supposedly our humidity multiplies the cold or so they say. :dont:

PocoPal, "been der done dat" too old to move snow anymore. :whiteflag:

WV that is a nightmare scenario for me. I HATE the cold, not that wild about the extreme heat either. All good things in moderation. During my deployment to Alaska we had conditions for weather. Alpha condition was the worst. They had people freeze to death literally a few feet from the door they went out of because they would become disoriented within a few seconds and couldn't find their way back. Luckily for us everything on the base was connected by underground tunnels and you never had to go outside.

Okay, here goes..global warming ALSO causes unusual weather events in OTHER seasons as well, it's not just about how much hotter the planet is getting (and it is).
Floods where there have not been floods (I can testify on that one having lost my home in 2013 to a flash flood in Austin, after living in the same place for 40 years with no hint of high water), unusual cold snaps and extreme snowfall in areas that don't often see snow are also part of the deadly cycle along with extreme drought which then leads to forest fires.
