thanks, Gents, for me it was one of those days, just like Nine Eleven and a few others, that I'll never forget Of course being my first born Grandaughter's Birthday helps some also

That was a great song. Since I wasn’t around in 59 it actually made me discover the music of those guys. Tragic day for sure. Just to think, one of my all time favorites (Waylon) was nearly on that flight.

Texans were involved in that day for sure.
Jape (aka Big Bopper) was a DJ in Beaumont Texas and I can remember listening to his Saturday afternoon dance show on the car radio when "we" could sneak away from work that is. He also wrote George Jone's Hit "White Lightning" and Johnny Preston's Hit "Running Bear" - - matter of fact, ?I'm thinking? that it was Jape, Possum and Huey Meaux that did the Indian Chants in the background of Preston's Hit record.
Of course all the FFA boys in East Texas sang it a little differently
"Running Boar - loved Little White Sow"
