Drip Pan Pit Boss Austin XL 1000

Postby Arto » Sun Mar 04, 2018 11:45 am

Made a drip pan for my Austin XL 1000. Inside the Austin it has a round flash pan to divert the grease to a bucket. Im trying to make like easier and this way I can add a water pan if I want

Looks functional....let us know.
This might be just the ticket because some of the newer pellet pits have gotten some bad feedback pertaining to a hot spots because the is no flame deflector.

Its 2" off the heat shield and 2" from the grill. I squared the bolts at 10 1/2" so I can turn the pan in either direction and add I think? 3 pans. I haven't gotten that far yet. Still testing Making Ribs today as a test.

Anxious to hear about your test run - - - I would think that as long as you keep the drippings out of the fire pot then the worse you can end up with is excess cleaning for the bottom of the pit when finished. :salut:

My tray came in handy today for my beer can chicken. The Chicken wouldn't fit under the lid. See it has its use!

Did a Corn Beef yesterday, all went well. Then I turned the smoker up to 350 for some cookies. Smoker went up in a blaze of fire. Snow balls put it right out. Back to the drawing board it is!
