Yup. I’ve learned the more I put in and have my kids water that there’s a chance I could have veggies by the end of the summer;)

I’ve got everbearing raspberries and Marionbwrries on the right. Here’s a pic of how it looks after a month usually with this soil additive we have up in Washington. It’s crazy.

We do. The last three years pepper jelly but my kids are getting older and hit the berries quickly. I always wanted to have a Myriad of fruit trees and other fruits. I have Asian pears, Italian plum prunes, Fuji apples, fig trees, the berries already mentioned along with blueberries.

My wife's a great gardener, she grows, I preserve. About 4 batches of strawberry jam and also coulis. And I love raspberry jam from our own fruit as well. You are lucky to,have pears as well, I'd love to bottle my own.

My mil and fil were both botany majors and every hike is what a quiz on scientific and Latin names for plants and shrubs. They did have a great garden. It is very therapeutic to do. I just hate the quack grass we get. That stuff is horrible.

I grew up with a garden as a youth.

What got you interested?

My wife's dad passed away with cancer when she was about 8, she spent lots of time with him in the garden. She got her love then, but didn't materialise until about 5 or 6 years ago. She started with a planter box our son got her. Then spiralled to raised beds all around and also on the fences. I'm just the labour, lol. She picks veges every day in season. It's winter here so a bit quiet in the garden ATM. We are still growing cauliflowers and broccoli etc. some pics from last summer.

That’s great and odd. It’s odd that both of our wife’s father past away from cancer. Both showed them the love for gardening and see where it took our lives. Wow. It really is something how much the fathers role was in the young ladies in their lives. Unbelievable

Yeah, it's real weird eh? My wife's always been flower type gardener, but has gone the vegetables way now, she says it's very therapeutic in the garden. The first pic at the back is her wee shed, it's where she keeps everything. I got it wired up for power last Mother's Day. She has a wee radio she turns on while in the garden. The second pic to,the right you can see carnations we grew from seed. We have normally a flower arrangement on our kitchen table.

This is one of her fave pics from her childhood. It's with our family pics on a sideboard.
