Cleaning your smoker
How do you guys clean yours? My food side is gloss black and thinking about cleaning it up since I’m in the process of fixing the outside and painting it again. Simple green and re oiling it?

Re: Cleaning your smoker
I'm not an expert but every once in a while I'll take a wire brush to the whole interior. I wear heavy rubber gloves because it is a mess. I then sweep it out with a brush and after that take my blower and blow it out

Re: Cleaning your smoker
I'd say yes also. My pellet smoker gets all kinds of gunk on the inside. Some of which is creosote, and is bad for the flavor of food per some folks. I'd imagine stick burners get the same build up since they're burning wood also.

Re: Cleaning your smoker
I clean my offset with a scraper, a brush and a weed burner.
Almost forgotten.
And a cold one to stand the mess

Re: Cleaning your smoker
Anyone ever line the inside of your pit with aluminum or something else? After so many cooks just rip out the aluminum? I’ve never done it. But looking for any new cleaning techniques besides good ole scrub brush and strong back

I've never done that but I don't see how it wouldn't help to some degree

Re: Cleaning your smoker
If you want a real hard cleaning, easy off oven cleaner, then a hose, then re-season a bit w some peanut oil. Suggest you do this out in the yard away from the house unless you want a divorce.
I found sand blasting worked REALLY good once too, LOL.
