My wife's put a humming bird feeder up last summer
She kept it filled all winter long.we ended up with two nesting pairs that stayed here all winter.
she has a chair on the deck about 4 feet from the feeder.she likes to sit out there and watch the little buggers come and go.
Yesterday she noticed a young one struggling to stay a flight, must of been getting tired.my wife got up out of her chair and stuck her hand out and darned if that hummer didn't land set right down in her hand. Well she wanted to take a picture cause she figured I'd never believe her but she had a cup of coffe in her other hand. About the time she went to sit her cup down that little bugger flew from her hand and set right on her eye glasses.

Well heres the photo she got with her phone while the hummer was resting on her glasses

From her glasses it jumped to the top of her head. At that pint she walked over to the bird feeder and the little bugger jumped off her head onto the feeder

Bill

Thats an incredible photo Bill, rare indeed. My mom used to have a coupld of those feeders out for years and had quite a few of them hanging around. But never seen anything like that.

Awesome and I can relate. During my experiences around hummers I saw one land on my Grandpaws glasses just out of the blue but no pic. Then we were saltwater fishing out of St. Louis Pass about 6 miles out and one landed on my sons cap bill. I'm thinking the later was just tired and catching his breath between Offshore Platforms. There was one about a mile away and that's the direction he headed.

Tell your Wiffy that they love sugar water so it was her "sweetness" that attracted him. :rose: :salut:

Last summer we had a pair of summer swallows in the roof in the porch outside our country place, grandkids loved watching them come and go. Then the chicks appeared and even left the nest day before we left. They loved it. Yours looks super friendly.

Having grown up on a horse farm and observing many animals as a wonderstruck young boy, I would express it this way:

Animals know their people.
