Getting Concerned about the Heat

Postby Rambo » Tue May 29, 2018 7:09 am

I'm starting to remember 2011 when we had the drought. The forecast here in east Texas this morning basically showed 72-75 morns with 95-98 afternoons for the next week with 0% chance of rain. Last year, we didn't have a single day in the triple digits but I fear it's coming. It's just May so no telling what July -August will be like. I can handle the heat as long as we get a few showers for the livestock, timber, and grass.

Good luck to everyone this summer with regard to moisture.

No doubt that I'll be mowing dew covered grass with my riding mower all Summer. :whiteflag: I ain't waiting until the Sun burns off the dew when I can wash the underside of my mowing deck later. :D

Our lowest in Central/East Texas is usually 15 and only a couple of days a year. South Texas might get down to 25 very occasionally. Now, the panhandle and west Texas see temps approaching 5-10 frequently. I'd say our average winter temp is 35-45. Texas is so large there are different weather norms for different regions

Plenty of rain here, it's winter, 2 race meetings called off as its too wet and dangerous for jockeys. You're welcome to our rain, lol.

Nah, Pard, we'll get some rain and when we do, it will be all at one time and too much of it. :whiteflag:

All about the Gulf Stream. Collin County/DFW had a long, wet winter. Don’t think the weather reliably made it east past Fannin and Kaufman counties. I think it has to do w where the Gulf Stream is sitting or flowing over N Texas. It drives all our weather.

Uh, I think you guys mean the Jet Stream...the Gulf stream is much more likely to effect the weather here in Maine than in Texas.
