A trip to the country

Postby GRailsback » Sun Nov 11, 2018 6:27 pm

Went to see some friends and attend a birthday party this weekend at a small ranch over near Seguin TX. 165 acres with a lot of Guadalupe river frontage. With a large log home built by my buddy and his dad many years ago. Fired up the house pit while I was over there. Cooked a wild hog shoulder and ham, and a store bought pork butt.

Here are a few more. And some photos of the breakfast taco spread this morning. And a photo of some future cooks out in the pasture.

Sooner it is a really nice place. Currently it is a family estate, between 4 kids. My buddy, one of the 4, and his dad built it by themselves with the help of one guy out of the The Woodlands TX that had a lot of log home knowledge. The logs came out of Colorado, and were tounge and groove and each one was staked. It is a mile off the county road it is on. Lots of places to sleep people down the sides of the pool. And a huge open entartaining area.

The wild shoulder and ham was from a small hog my buddy shot. They turned out great, wild and domestic pulled pork on Saturday night, and I toasted the buns for the pulled pork sandwiches, and he shredded the ham for the taco spread on Sunday morning along with some beef that he cooked all night in a crock pot. I think the beef was a couple of big cuts of london broil.

Sooner, I think I ran into Parts girlfriend while I was up in Ft. Worth for the races. She was sitting just down to the left of me. I sent him a picture of her.......and he thanked me for doing it after he had ate. Maybe I will share that photo with you one day. I don't think I will share it with Russ, he will want to start trouble with Parts for buying her to small of clothes.

That is true Sooner, NASCAR runs the whole gammut of people. From the classiest, to the trashiest. But I will tell you this. In all of the years I have been going to race tracks, which is most of my life. And it doesn't matter if it is a dirt track, asphalt track, or the drag strip, I never in my life seen one fight between any of the fans. Now the drivers, thats annother story. But never with the fans.

Now, as for that photo, I think at one time Parts may have had a dirty mind. Not sure what he was thinking.

You are one lucky guy to have friends like that, man what a joint. We could only dream of that. Cook looked great. And friends, doesn't get better. Great banter too, lol.
