Our newest frigate crashed with a tanker after big NATO exercise. Did 17 knots when it got the 130000 dwt tanker in starboard side. Just finished training with carrier USS Harry Truman. They pushed it on ground but it slipped out and sank fully armed. Luckily none of the 137 big crew got hurt. 500 million usd under water.

So sorry for the great loss, Norway Joe, but so glad that all lives were spared. How did the Tanker fair in the collision ?

Thanks. The tanker was practically not damaged at all. It rammed the bulb straight into the side of the warship. It held 7 knots when they collided. These warships are paperthin for high speed and manoeuvring (obviously didn't help).

Sorry to hear about the loss of the ship. At least there were no fatalities.
