I can't speak for either of these but I do know that I am very pleased with my Maverick ET-73 . Mine was a gift but you can find these for around $40, if you look online.

I'm with OUP; I use a maverick for non instant read temps and happy with it... May consider others when this one wears out or breaks

The smoke is brought to you by the same people that make the therma pen. Very well known for making quality kitchen and grilling thermometers. If I had the money to spend I’d go with it.
I also agree with everyone else that you can’t go wrong with a Maverick.

Thermoworks has a new remote thermometer that's wi-fi and has 4 channels instead of the 2 channel Smoke. They had the Smoke onsale for 79$ couple of weeks ago, and even though my Maverick works perfect, I gifted myself one.
