They grow a lot of cotton down that way, so that is what they have for table decorations.

Rambo, I have a couple of photos for you since I know how much you like crowds. The rain held off yesterday and the place was mobbed last night. Just got home and had a great time again this year. Quite a party if you have never been there. Very easily one of the biggest cookoffs in the country.
And Parts, thank you so much for uploading those photos for me. I guess I need to put some sort of app on my phone to be able to do that.

I'd love to hear more about that South Texas team you sponsor. My wife graduated high school in Live Oak county, and I graduated in San Patricio. Does that team run a restaurant down there? I wonder if I've heard of 'em.
Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it's a start.

Techie,
It is the Live Oak County Area Go Texan organization. They partner with San Patricio County to do the cookoff in Houston. They are a very good organization, and give out a significant number of scholorships to students down there. Live Oal County cooks the BBQ for Friday night, and San Patricio County frys the fish for Saturday night, and they have a live band both nights. A very good friend of mine that has since passed away had some friends that were with the Live Oak County Go Texan Committee, and after he passed away I picked up and continued on with the sponsorship that he had done for years. They are very good people that run that deal. So not only do they have a good party, it is also kind of a memorial deal in honor of my old friend that I continue to sponsor them. And also the fact that they do the scholorships as well.

I went Greg, once. We enjoyed it but way too many folks in one spot for me. The " Almost Son In Law and his tent were close to that Miller Lite stage also.
