The king
Spent a few hours at the harbour polishing the boat before I put it on the water for the summer. The king has his sailboat 50 meters away from mine little boat, but only seen his boat and not the king there.
Today I saw him going out with his new sailboat. He has just got his new all carbon boat at 1.2 mill USD. Here he's behind the rudder going out from from the harbour together with his crew. They are all amateur sailors and civilian friends of him. He's a decent sailor as both a world champion and European champion in sailing. He will be at the rudder this summer in a new regatta. Not bad for a 81 year old man.
In the other picture you can se his guards going out with their boat.
Besides that the navy sailors went out with his smallest boat "Stjernen 2". A very nice wooden boat built in Norway in 1934. He normally use it when going out to his ship "Norge". hard to see the king, he's just behind the mastStjernenhis ship the guards

Re: The king
Read up on them just now, they sound like a good family. His father King Olav evidently wanted to stay behind and continue to fight the Nazis with the resistance during the occupation but was refused and ordered to England to serve with the government in exile. That is worthy of respect. Sounds like a man of the people, money or not.

Re: The king
BTW, his little wooden coastal cruiser is a very handsome craft. Classic boats sure had a certain style and beauty to them.

Re: The king
Yes. That boat is beautiful. I went past it today and got the chance to study it up close. Extremely well maintained and nice.
The king is very popular but their descendants not so much.

Re: The king
Cool you liked this. Wasn't sure if it was of interest here.
Here's some more info about his ship. It was a gift from the people of Norway to the present king's grandfather.
Check out the beautiful video of the ship at the bottom of article.

Re: The king
Took the boat out on the sea for the first time for the summer. A little trip with my oldest son. Absolutely quality time.
No wind, 68 f in the air, but a bit early for swimming. Only 57 f in the water, need 62.
Beautiful evening.

Re: The king
Great pics and interesting history. I've always wondered how a royal government works over a sh**show like ours. Lol!
A system like ours is brilliant, actually. It's a great way to keep the people divided and give those in power the upper hand to take what they want, how they want it, and deliver us the scraps. All the while the people being divided can't seem to agree enough to put differences aside to stand together to make the change to take charge and put them back to work FOR US, rather than us serving them.
Ok.. rant ended. Lol!
