So I’m retired military here in Texas and noticed for the past few years, BBQ is alive and well here in the Lone Star State. After watching my friends battle over who can make the best Ribs,Brisket, etc, I decided I needed to join the fun. I was always the judge in the tasting comps. I’m starting off slow, and purchased a Yoder YS640 pellet smoker. I want to eventually grow up to run a stick burner. Butt this is my first set of ribs EVER made and I think they came out great. My neighbors had some and have asked me to smoke them 2 slabs next weekend. This little hobby may be fun!!

Those look great for a first effort!

In pic #3 it looks like you still have the membrane on the back of the ribs. Lots of folks like to remove the thicker outer membrane. It works either way but w/o the membrane they are a little more tender. Just food for thought for the future if you didn't remove it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I was able to get the membrane off before smoking. I’m loving this Forum as I’m getting some great new ideas. I think I will do another weekend of Ribs before I move to brisket.

Welcome to this wonderful lifestyle of cooking Barbecue. I never thought of it as a hobby but I kind of like that thought. Especially since I spend so much time not just doing it but reading and talking about it. I hope you find as much satisfaction and joy in cue as I have.
