FIrst time on the board but I am excited to learn new tips and hone the art that is smoking. I grew up in Texas and have been around smokers and smoking meat but until now I was always using other people's pits to cook on. I inherited a pit from my uncle. It seems well made and was in ok shape. I'm not sure who built it since there are no markings or brands anywhere on it. Wish I had before pics but I took my grinder to it, removing rust and old paint, took out the propane parts, patched the holes where the propane was and added some high temp oven sealant around the doors. I painted it and added a pop of color on the stack. Thanks in advance for tips and help in the future, I'm off to search the internet for butcher paper (I think Franklin's is the BEST brisket hands down so I'm going to mimick him) and some wood.

Looking forward to more camping trip with my family. I need a new tonneau cover to secure my equipment and pit.
