Old newbie in Dublin

Postby i_r_machinist » Tue Mar 27, 2018 10:17 am

Hello to all! I've been reading the posts for a couple of days and thought I'd jump in. My day job is machinist at Comanche Peak nuclear power plant and my night job is fabricating custom fire pits and metal art. I have a cnc plasma cutter that can cut up to 3/4" thick, and a smorgasbord of machine tools at home. I love going to cook-offs and checking out all the creativity that goes into some of these pits. I go to the Hico steak cook off every year. I've made a bunch of stuff to dress up pits, and I've made one pit years ago, but hated the thing. I got my hands on a old propane tank that I finally filled with water and cut open last weekend. I'm going to read up on the proper design and see what I come up with.
Thanks for the info

ps. I was thinking about something along these lines, with a vertical mount.

Welcome; I think there are some guys over in the Piits Forum that will be able to communicate with you better than most of us.

Dublin? Out 105 from Montgomery? Wasn't there a kick tail hamburger joint there?
