Texas Ex-Pat checking in

Postby nickcooksbbq » Sun Jun 24, 2018 9:50 pm

Texas roots, exiled in Tulsa, currently. Been cooking que for 15 years on everything known to man. Currently day to day stuff is cooked on multiple Hasty Bake pits, a custom Schmoker trailer from Brownwood, TX handles the big caters and events. Other pits include okie Joes, Weber kettles, and a barrage of one-off smokers. Currently I own and operate Tulsa Barbecue School, which teaches backyard and competition bbq to whomever wants to learn - heavy emphasis on Texas style barbecue. We have about 250 clients a year come thru our workshops. Pretty involved in the Tulsa food, entrepreneur and agriculture scene - building relationships and sourcing everything as local and possible. Pondering the possibility of eventually opening up a shop somewhere but haven’t fleshed out that dream yet. Looking forward to learning more and offering advice where I’m able.
