I hunted the Hill Country; Bend, Cherokee, and Junction for many years. Went to Coopers in Llano many times and enjoyed it. They had another store in Mason that only had a few pits and I liked it mucho

It’s a super hard decision, but so far it’s a tossup between Hays Co. in San Marcos and Stanley’s Famous in Tyler.

There are other places that I love 99.9% as much:

Smitty’s in Lockhart has the coolest “vibe”.
Kruez is a staple. I eat there every chance I get.
Pinkerton’s has killer Brisket and some of the best sides.

It’s amazing the quality of meat that location turns out. As a kid I lived just about a 1/4 mile down the road on S High. That was the place to go for a chopped beef sandwich but nothing special. Now people are driving in from all over the state to eat there. Very happy for them.

They opened a store in Lufkin. There are racks of wood out back ; i believe they have a southern Pride in there. Always tender, nice smoke ring, good food. they have a small dining room with a condiment bar and a drive through window. The best deal is a Jr. sliced beef(4") bun, chips and tea for $5.99. They still stack the meat, great deal

Got two, sadly one long gone and the other trying to bring it to the masses. #1 Bob White's: was at the split of Garland rd. and Gaston ave. in Dallas. House salad with thousand island, rib plate with potatoe salad, beans and a cold Miller High Life. Their demise was property value, land sold, they moved and was never the same. They managed to hang on for roughly 2 yrs. #2 Stubb's in Lubbock, the ORIGANAL! You know the place on "the wrong side of the tracks". Was only there a couple of times. Each time though "Stubb" was at the pit. Hands down the best Q I've ever had the pleasure to sink my teeth into. And the jute box, Lord the jute box. It was a collection of Who's Who like no other.

Little artical about Stubb's and the amazing talent that had walked though the doors.

Cool GTR.

I remember a shack in Sealy Texas on the street going to the Shindler Steel Mill back in the late 70's/early 80's. he only cooked on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday but it was fine. he had a Lemon/butter/tomato sauce that was kickass . An old black gentleman that could cook

Loved Kreuz Market. Locally, there is a place called Witt Pit that I really enjoy.

Finally got to try Snow’s this past weekend, it was great as expected. The shocker was Truth in Brenham. They just went way up on the list for me. Everything that I had there was phenomenal.

I was up in Paige the middle of this past week for some races that got rained out on Wed night. So they ran them on Thursday. But I had some time to kill so I rode up to Lexingtone just to check the place out. It is a neat place. Quiet of course because they were not open, but did talk to the guy that was about to clean all the pits, and I took some photos as well.
