Not surprised Georges still has a cold "Big O". Did they get rid of that darn bowling game?

If I had to guess I would have to believe the waitress's there were were the first to know the Feds were in town for the Mount Carmel raid. You could not hide 4 agents in Waco much less the grand total they had.

Once had a waitress ask my group if we were in town to work cattle at the ******* Ranch and darn if she wasn't exactly right. Small Ranch to!

Stopped in "The Pride of the Southside" & lunched @ Mamas & Papas today.
Had a ribs & brisket combo. Ask for sauce on the side as they will drench you in their thin sweet sauce & this is not optimal! I preferred the Ribs over the Brisket but both were solid.
Portions were smallish I thought, & the owners were sweet as they could be.

Uncle Dans
Michnas
Rudys
DeMarias
Jaspers
Viteks
Coaches (Mcgregor)
Rusty Star

To me, none of them all that great.

A little drive to Clifton will take you to Bunkhouse BBQ, which is better then the aformentioned places.

But if I am going to take to the highways I will go to Louie Muellers in Taylor.

If you are known for a concoction called a gutpak, you are NOT a bbq joint (Vitek's).
If your best offering is a baked potato, you are NOT a bbq joint (Uncle Dan's).
Uncle Dan's just sucks. No hint of a rub, no hint of smoke. Their potato salad rocks, though
Once you get out of Waco and eat some real bbq, you realize what a wasteland we live in 'q-wise.

Rusty Star has been pretty solid. Coaches in McGregor is good. But the best and most consistent meat in Waco is Rudy's moist. I liked Mama and Papa B's. Demaria's was ok.

I understand the road side stand on Waco drive and 10th or so is very good,
Get's my vote for best in town! Rudy's is a Close second.
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

Very well said.

Also on of my favorite threads on this site. I hate when buddy's want to take me for q. I don't hate the potato or the frito pie, but it's not BBQ.

Depressing. So how far is it to Rosebud?

HiWay 77 Cafe is on my list! BBQ is a Thursday-Saturday endeavor there.

I've said before, I like the gut pack. And really like Julie, it's just not traditional BBQ:

Friend just called on his way down 35 looking for a rec.
Sad to see no changes.
