Country side hole in the walls and BBQ-Joints?

Postby Charlie » Mon May 30, 2011 12:27 pm

Hi there,
so I finally found you guys, GREAT! I don't cook or smoke (yet) but I eat and I share the atmosphere of honky-tonks, music and food with my fellow bbq-lovers. My search has come to a point where I desperetly wants to find small places like old juke-joints and beer joints that also serves BBQ. I crave for this.... A great jukebox in combination with great bbq and a cold longneck, that's what I need.

Is there anybody out there on this forum that likes the same stuff? It's more about the atmosphere than the food. It's about smoke, sweat, the people and the music.

Great food is of course a plus.

Hope to hear from ya'

Welcome - - - the "Capital City" has almost anything and everything you want so you shouldn't
have any trouble finding something. Seems like there used to be a place kinda like you're talking about on 185 headed towards Lampasas but I can't remember the name. I'll ask my SIL also he might know.

Is the old Cele store still open? It's just north of Plugerville / east of Round Rock

There is a place in Freer Texas called the Dusty boot that is just like that. Locals call it the boot and during deer season it is packed everyday.

Charlie - this isn't an "old" honkeytonk, but it might tickle your fancy. http://www.loosewheelstexas.com/ An old family friend built the place and it has quickly turned into a hotspot for honkeytonk-goers of years past. The owner did own a hole in the wall honkeytonk in the 70's & early 80's which was called Lucille's. That's how he came up with the name of this one - "Loose Wheels".... Live music, BBQ, shuffleboard, pool, outdoor fire pits and much more...

I can't always please everybody. I'm not bacon.
