Texas Best Smokehouse, Longview, TX

Postby nascarchuck » Tue Feb 21, 2012 9:00 pm

Spent the night in Longview last night and my trainer suggested Texas Best Smokehouse which was fine by me because I had heard the place was good.

I had my heart set on brisket and ribs but was told they were out of both (at about 6pm!). I ended up with sausage and pulled pork with potato salad, pinto beans and a roll.

I thought that everything was pretty good. Good enough that next time I am in the area I will stop in and try the brisket and ribs. Plenty of food on the plate, in fact couldnt finish my plate. It was about $12 with soft drink.

They had a large selection of meats, sides, desserts. Nice clean store. Just need to start selling Sucklebusters!

Oh, while the BBQ is good, stay away from the little bakery. I bought a jalapeno and a plain sausage roll and cinnamon roll. Took a bite of each then threw thew rest away. Yuk!

Is that the place in the gas station off 20? Seen it but never tried it.

If you get back that way try Carter's.

Yes, north side of I-20, cant remember the exit. There is a Super 8 motel next door (nothing fancy but wasnt bad for $55) and a Whataburger across the street.

Where is Carters and do they have truck parking nearby?

Eastman Rd north of 20. It's a couple of miles off the hwy but worth it. They are in a small building w/ a small lot but there is a big open strip center lot right next to it. Not many businesses left there (makes me sad, I was raised around there) so there should be plenty of room to park.
