Not a BBQ joint but hit up Luckenbachs, have a cold Lone Star in the back of the post office and there usually is some good music playing.

We ate there for the first time this week, on the special day when they were serving prime rib. We had the prime as well as moist brisket. They both were excellent, and the guys working there all seemed genuinely happy working the joint. The pit guy is Lance, who used to run the pit up at Louie Muellers.

I'm bringing sweat pants. My doctor will shoot me when she finds out, but it's one of my bucket list items. That I can actually do.

If you are going that far east to hit Huntsville, maybe stop off in Bryan for that Fargo's place. I haven't been there yet, but Full custom rates it highly.

You list looks awesome. I am not a big fan of House Park or County Line food, but the atmosphere at County Line is pretty awesome. The landscape of BBQ here in Austin always seems to change, while places like Taylor, Lockhart and Luling are pretty much the same year after year. With such a vast list, you are going to be fully stuffed on BBQ. Good luck.

I'm from Huntsville. New Zion is only open Thursday through Saturday. Get there right at opening or you'll stand in line for a while.

No idea how the County Line got in there, but I am going to suggest you take a pass on it & substitute in a trip East from Elgin to Royers Round Top Cafe in it's stead.

I'm assuming your trip is over but if not, huntsville is a long way from your other places depending on where you're coming from

Actually, didn't get to make the trip. Came down with the Flu. But I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts on different places around the area. Maybe the thread can stay alive, and help inspire others with a BBQ Crawl. I'm thinking a couple of months, and I'll try it again.

Thanks Everyone

Which one are you talking about, LM or TC? I do agree that many of the BBQ joints have started pricing themselves out of range for a normal lunch. Those that offer 'plates' can still be a value, but if you ask me, charging $20 for a beef rib, or $17/lb for brisket is just outrageous. LM has fallen into this category now, as well as LA BBQ and a couple others.
