Sammies BBQ, Ft. Worth TX

Postby Papa Tom » Mon Jan 07, 2013 11:11 pm

This place blew me away. In business continuously for 67 years and still using the old brick pits.
I sampled most everything and everything was good, fresh, prepared well.
Taste is subjective but I thought it was great, meat, sides, sauce were something a whole family would enjoy.
We had :
Chicken
Turkey
Baby backs
Pork loin
Brisket
Ham
Fat bologna
Ring bologna
Smoked sausage (easily beats Lockhart)
Potato salad
Cole slaw x 2
Onion rings
Steak fries
Beans
Texas toast
Drinks
Catfish

I detected nothing but salt & pepper on the meats.

If its the one on Belknap,I must of caught em on a bad day! I ate there about 2 weeks ago and got the rib plate, worst ribs i've ever tried to eat!!! The toast and potatoe salad was good but the service was real bad too.I'll never go back!!

That's where we went Ed and the folks, service could not have been better. Met the owner Bobby Platt and he showed us around the place.
We were there 11:30 on Saturday, Wednesday nite is Memphis rib and Friday is catfish.

Those ribs look alot better than the mess they served me!!!It's a shame BBQ joints can't be consistent.

It is amazing how this little fact can absolutely ruin a BBQ joint for me. Sometimes consistency is harder than anything for some of the places I've tried.

Bobby hasnt changed at all. Looks the same as he did 30 years ago.

Hey Papa, what did you think about the onion rings? different but good!

Agreed the O-rings were just that different but still good. In the tour they showed us how they were made, special onions, special potatoes everything was first class...
