Re: Blue Ox BBQ & Pancake Cabin / Austin
I tried it a couple weeks back. I actually cross posted my thoughts over in the Micklethwait thread. Here it is:
"I also discovered a place last week, called Blue Ox, off of East Riverside beside the Dairy Queen. It is a trailer outside of a coffee shop. The que is good, but the layout is strange, as you have to go into the coffee shop to order your drinks.
I tried the Brisket, pork ribs and the pulled pork. All 3 were good, and had a very strong black pepper taste. Normally I see places that will try to sweeten the pork cuts, but I don't think these guys used much besides the salt and pepper. It was all well above average, though I don't think it was up to JM or AF level yet. The prices seemed to be a bit less than the other top joints are charging, but I don't think they offered any type of 2-3 meat plates. I will go back, and the guys I went with were also impressed."
