Austin Area BBQ Recommendations

Postby TexasBlueDevil » Sun Feb 16, 2014 6:34 pm

We will be in Austin for a week during March. I'd like to hit a couple of the bbq joints.

Any advice on where and when to go would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Franklins get there at nine in the morning and get ready to wait for several hours...it's really good though. John Muellers, Mickelthwaite, La BBQ are all in the same area and are really good as well, can't go wrong with any of those and you'll just need to get there around opening and may wait 15-20 mins..For an indoor sit down place you want to go to stiles switch (this place is also the only one that will serve dinner if that's what your into.

If you don't want lines but want legit bbq try Stiles Switch or Kerlin BBQ.

Franklin is amazing and of you have a mid week day to go and stand in line it's highly recommended.

I pretty much second everything FR8 Train said.

Stiles Switch is always really good. John Mueller Meat Co on east 6th is probably my favorite, but Stiles has been consistent, service is great and the line moves really fast....
They don't run out of food either!!!

On our Austin visit, We went Louie Mueller in Taylor and Stiles Switch.

I liked LM a little better but Both were excellent!!

The Beef Ribs at LM were the best I've ever had.
