Pecan Lodge 2.0 Deep Ellum

Postby Damon54 » Mon May 19, 2014 1:10 pm

Had the opportunity to go to an opening event over the weekend.

Looks like Justin has a much bigger pit than he used at the old Farmers Mkt.

Location is Deep Ellum at Main St. & Pryor. Will sell Craft Beers, one of which is proprietary to them & some high end wines which is interesting.

New location has indoor & outdoor seating.

They now feature a seperate from the food counter , bar area & I for one have no problem with it.
They simply would not be able to afford this space without maximizing wine & beer sales. They are in Deep Ellum, not Deep Denison.

They have had a longstanding catering relationship with the Wine Poste.

Dawg, put on the rose colored glasses and drive yer common van up and I'll buy you one if these craft beers around here like Texas Imperial or a Franconia, proudly made here in my home town of McKinney. Dern good, I gotta say, even though I have kept the doctor away daily with Bock since '82.

Glad to her Justin made the jump, I need a fix.

hmmmm... Growlers and Vino ... Whats next Money Muscle Sliders w/ White Cheddar on a bed of greens??... Seriously though I am wishing well to PL so that North Texas will actually be able to keep open a BBQ joint that will prove that someone North of Teague can cook quality chow in a resturant setting. Guess I will need to venture down for some Zinfidel Rose. Go PL Go :wav:

Ate their this morning and it was every bit as good as the Farmer's Market location. Brisket was excellent as usual, but I was particularly impressed with the pork ribs. They had been sold out of pork ribs by the time I got to the counter on all three of my previous visits, but they might have been the best pork ribs I have ever had. Burnt ends were incredible as well.

Got there at 10:15 and only had about 30 people in line, but by the time it opened the line went all the way down the block and around the corner.

Went back yesterday with a group of buddies that were in town for a wedding. All three are barbecue fiends like myself and all three left very impressed. I just can't get enough of this place. This picture doesn't even do it justice.

Dayummmmmm! I'm not supposed to be looking at picture at work, but I can't help myself. That pic is sexy!! I've been to their old location twice and I've said it both times, their spare ribs are the best I've ever had. They have a sexy black crust to them just like the brisket does. They have been sold out of beef ribs both times that I've been which is frustrating when you are in the first 15 folks in line both times. I swore I wouldn't go back after last time unless I go with a crew and get the trough since you don't have to wait in line for that at the Farmers Market. How does that work now? Did they have a walk up line for large orders? I hate that there is always a line there. I work two miles away from Deep Elum. I would love to be able to go to lunch there but it doesn't seem like that's ever going to be the case. I can go to Lockhart Smokehouse in the Bishop Arts District any day of the week and walk right up and order and the brisket is just as good IMO. So they continue to get my business.
