Another Crash and Burn...

Postby rms827 » Sat Jul 07, 2018 10:47 pm

Tried another place out here, and it has decent Yelp reviews too. Sadly it just goes to prove that most Californians know jack about BBQ. :banghead:

To be fair, it's not exactly a BBQ joint but they are supposed to specialize in pork belly dishes... Key word = supposed. If "Pork Belly" is in the name after all, one should expect some good grub.

Here's the Pork Belly Fries I got with my burger:

The pork belly was fried (to death).

If you look, you can see all the fat has been fried right off the meat. It had the dryness and flavor of an unseasoned, cooked to death pork chop. :pig: No Smoke Ring! All I could think while eating the burger and fries was that the pork pelly woulda been so much better slow smoked and then seared.

That dish doesn't look appealing

I'd made a bit of a mess of it by the time I thought to take a pic. It was plated nicer than that. The fries themselves were good, and so was the bleu cheese dressing. That pork belly left alot to be desired though.
