Homemade BBQ Sauce (my own recipe)

Postby slickyboyboo » Mon Apr 14, 2014 7:58 am

I decided the other day, that I wanted to make my own BBQ sauce, so I started with the base ingredients, and went to adding from there. I was quite excited with the results!

Honey Apple BBQ Sauce

1 large apple chopped
1/2 small onion chopped
1/2 cup - tomato sauce
1/2 cup - tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup honey
1 cup - light brown sugar
1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
2 TBS Apple cider vinegar
2 TBS molasses
3 TBS Lemon juice
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp paprika

Take your onion and apples, and cook them down in a 3 qt sauce pan, with your 1/2 cup of water. When they are cooked down, lightly mash them with a potato masher to break them down.

Mix your tomato sauce and tomato paste, and add to the sauce pan.

Add all the rest of your liquid ingredients, and bring to a boil.

Add all your dry ingredients, and turn your heat down to med low, and let simmer, stirring regularly.

After 45 min of simmering, remove from the heat and strain through a fine strainer, to remove your onions and apples.

Pour your sauce into a bottle and let chill in the refrigerator.

I saved this and I will give it a try once my current stock has dwindled some.
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

I made it :D If you don't make this sauce you don't like BBQ!!!! It's so good Maxwell the :pig: Drove up in his new Camaro and gave me a rack of his ribs to cook so I can give it a proper test run.
