Hello everyone, and hope the new year brings many new cooks.
Now for the questions.
I was working on a sauce with a root beer/cola base.
my rub to pair it with is brown sugar, onion, garlic, pepper, salt, paprika, parsley, celery powder, cumin, cayenne, and a bit of hab powder for extra heat.
1 - will the cola base kill the rub heat value?
2 - should I add rub to the sauce for flavor?
Thanks

Re: Sauce questions
The cola won't tame it but if the rub is used on longer cooking cuts like Shoulders and Brisket the heat will become a little milder due to the time on the pit. You can add a little rub to the sauce some like that, me I like a little contrast that compliments so I would probably just add a little habenaro to it and call it a day, that's me it's your sauce. This is what makes this hobby interesting just like sex even if it aint real good it still aint bad
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.
