On Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network, there was a BBQ place that used Coke in their BBQ Sauce. I'd bet it is pretty good...

Looks good. Coke is real compatable with meat..especially beef seems like. Used to have a pot roast recipe which called for it. Tasted purty good as I recall. Also got an old chum who uses it for a steak marinade. The ones he cooked up for us tasted real good. Course steaks is sorta like beer..the free ones always tastes mo betta seems like:)

Anyone ever done a Coke/Dr. Pepper ham? My dad used to do one with that as part of the process and it was pretty good if you liked them sweet.

I make something similar to yours , except I use Dublin Dr. Pepper (Temple if you want to get technical, but purchased in Dublin).. Its a great sauce with wings - I also use Teaspoon of Hot Sauce to mine.

i have done spite/7 up in ham. it was good. I also did a rootbear bbq sauce that was good. If you do use any softdrinks to cook, make sure they are not diet drinks. diet drinks go bad when heated.

Here are three recipes I've found;

Ingredients:
48 ounces Coca Cola
6 cups Ketchup
4 cups Finely Chopped Onion
1 cup Cider Vinegar
1 cup Worcestershire Sauce
4 teaspoons Chili Powder
4 teaspoons Salt
Hot Pepper Sauce (Tabasco) to taste
Directions:
Bring ingredients just to boil, then reduce to simmer for 30 to 45 minutes and sauce thickens.

Ingredients:
• 2 cups Coca-Cola (or similar cola)
• 2 cups ketchup
• 1/2 cup white vinegar
• 1/2 onion large onion, finely chopped
• 1 1/2 tablespoons black pepper
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 3 tablespoons salt
• 3 tablespoons chili powder

Preparation:
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a low simmer and cook slowly for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Ingredients
• 1 cup cola
• 1 cup ketchup
• 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
• 2 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
• 4 tablespoons A-1® Steak Sauce
• 1 teaspoon onion flakes
• 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a heavy non-reactive saucepan and gradually bring to a boil over
medium heat. Reduce the heat slightly to obtain a gentle simmer.
1.
2. Simmer until reduced by 1/4, about 6-8 minutes.
Use immediately or transfer to a large jar, cool to room temperature, cover, and refrigerate.
Sauce will keep for several months.
3.
