First try wagyu

Postby Hank Scorpio » Thu Aug 17, 2017 11:34 am

Picked up my first wagyu to give it a try this weekend. I have been wanting to try one for awhile just haven't wanted to spend the money. Now I'm just hoping not to screw it up.....

Wild Bill, do you have any idea how long it would take me to "Savor" a $100 Steak :?:

My first try was a great restaurant we go to occasionally. Beautiful piece of meat. Pretty expensive here though.

I could never spend that kind of money on beef or wine. I'm afraid I couldn't tell the difference with the cheaper stuff and then I'd be kicking my own butt. :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

you absolutely must post finished pictures good or bad.... and then describe the taste as compared to the regular stuff...
I know, sometimes one just has to "throw caution to the wind" and this is one of those times so do tell and do show

Bill, was that for domestic Wagyu or the "real" Japanese stuff?

Allen Brothers, a high-end mail order meat vendor (that has great, 8 oz steak dogs), sells some of their domestic Wagyu steaks for under $100/lb.

And if I ever saw any cut of Wagyu beef here (in the Northeast) for $9/lb I'd grab it in a heartbeat (that's a good price here for conventional brisket).
