Yesterday, 5th of June, was the World MOINK Ball Day! To celebrate it, I put together a little BBQ for a couple of friends.
Made a bunch of meatballs, spiced them up with fresh onion, garlic, cilantro, cumin, salt, black pepper and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Dusted gently my own generic rub on top of them.
Wrap them in bacon and pierce them with some unusually large toothpicks...
I thought ABT's might compliment the MOINKs rather well, so de-seeded a bunch of jalapenos.
Fill them with cream cheese.
Wrap them in bacon and put it all in the pit. Put a few braided bratwursts and chicken drumsticks there as well.
Dusted a bit more of my generic rub on the MOINK balls.
While waiting anxiously for the BBQ, grilled a bunch of Tiger Prawns for appetizers.
Also a couple of lamb Shish kebabs for a bit of spice in the mouth.
Then the doorbell rang and post brought me some Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce! What a perfect timing!
Q is ready!! Coated most of the the MOINK balls with a mixture of honey and Sweet Baby Ray's and let the glaze set for about 10 minutes in the smoker.
Crisped the skin of the chicken in the Weber kettle over hot charcoal while basting it with Stubb's BBQ baste.
The ABT's were fantastic as well, except ... first bite of the ABT delivers the most beautiful flavor of buffalo turd that just feels like heaven, until the insanely hot burn takes over like a buffalo kicking your head. The japs over here are just soooo hot. But I love'em anyway!
Saved the best for the last, enjoyed the original MOINK ball experience with the few uncoated MOINK balls dipped in D.L Jardin's Raspberry Chipotle Sauce! (Thanks Bluz!!!)
Absolutely delicious!!
Cheers,
Sterno

Great post Sterno. I completely forgot about MOINK day. Good to see you were on top of it. I would love to get my hands on some of those bradded Brats. Did you buy them or make them yourself?

I am speechless .. Sterno you had such a great and complete cook, it all looked wonderful. You definitely know how to celebrate Moink Ball Holiday properly. We take SBR sauce for granted, never thought about having to order some, it is tasty mixed with additional honey though. Thank you Sterno for sharing the pictures with us.
