OK folks. What's your favorite BBQ book or books.

1 Smoke and Spice

2 Peace, Love, and Barbecue

3 Legends of Texas Barbecue Cookbook

I have several others but, I like these the best.

I gave a few people a list of books that I wanted for Christmas and got nada! So, therefore, I have no books...

but I am going to get me a few soon. I have the list written down somewhere. I need to find it.

My wife bought one of Raichlens books. I've thumbed through it. It has some good looking recipes. A friend of mine gave me a Jack Daniels BBQ book. It has a lot of good recipes as well as a little history info.

You didn't get any Jack Daniels samples with that book? Image

For the basics, I'd recommend Gary Wiviott's Low and Slow

For an all encompassing reference with history, tips, and recipes, I'd recommend Jamison's Smoke and Spice

For Texas BBQ history, tips, and recipes, I'd go with Walsh's Legends of Texas Barbecue

A good recipe book would be Davis', Kirk's and Wells' KCBS Cookbook.

The best written book and most enjoyable to read would be Legends of Texas Barbecue
The book with the most information would be Smoke and Spice

Paul Kirks "championship BBQ" is the only BBQ book ive ever really read and in my opinion theres no need for another book. The only thing you have to take into consideration is to take the vinegar out of most of his recipes.....hes from out East so vinegar flies out there, Texas that stuff is no bueno......

Agree, the "Legends" book is really a great read. I really like Paul Kirks first book more than all of them. PK's Championship bbq sauces. It covers way mmore than sauces and should be on every bbqer's home. have read through Serious BBQ a couple times too, its okay, I try to learn something from every book. Adams is the only one to mention the "humidity" factor in the cooker, makes perfect sense to me, he has a couple good tips too.

The Complete Meat Cookbook by Bruce Aidells, Denis Kelly

I haven't read it cover to cover, but it has best explanation of understanding of meat A to Z. If you ever wanted to understand chosing cuts of meat, handling and cooking effects, this book is a good one for that. Pretty much a comprehensive explanation of what you might learn in a culinary school regarding meat and then some.
