Wood in Northwest Houston area

Postby N224DW » Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:49 pm

Is there anyone else on here in the Northwest Houston, Cypress, or Spring area that knows a good place to buy wood for smoking? I'm looking for anything local to keep the drive distance from Cypress as minimal as possible.....

Craigslist is probably your best bet. There are always lots of listings for wood at a good price.

There is a wood lot on Pinemont at Bingle (just north of 290 off Bingle).

Kroger, Academy etc... carry bags of wood and lump charcoal if you are just looking for enough for a backyard cook or two.
There is a guy on the greensheet that seems to have pretty good prices and delivers if you are looking to pick up a truckload or
so.

AAA Grass Sales (last time i went here they only had Oak)
4911 Spring Cypress Road, Spring, TX

Bayou City Firewood (never used this place yet, but might if the future if they have pecan)
6730 Louetta Road, Spring, TX

The Wood Chop (never used them either but they showed up on the google search)
6613 Pinemont Drive, Houston, TX
WDS Cookers - Tomball Tx
LoneStar Grillz LSGTP 24’’X 84’’ trailer rig
Oklahoma Joe offset 20"x48" home rig
Weber kettle

Great, thanks guys for the info....... my usual spot is going to Academy for supplies, but wasn't sure if there was a honey hole somewhere else that I didn't know about.....

William's Firewood on Pinemont. They supply all local restaurants with bbq wood. They have a website and sell all different kinds split and dry.

Its about 25 minutes to 3 hours depending on traffic, but Pitts by JJ on 59 has never let me down.
