Anyone used Kingsford Competition briquets?
I was at Walmart and saw this Kingsford Competition charcoal. The bag says it burns hotter with less ash and it's all natural. I guess it's been around for a while but I hadn't seen it before. I've always just used the regular briquets or lump. It costs a bit more so I'm wondering, is this stuff just a gimmick or should I give it a try?

I've used them before too and never had any problems.
As for the claims of burning hotter or less ash, I can neither confirm not deny... never taken the time to do a comparison, but considering lump has these characteristics as well it's not as if they would be far fetched.

I've used it a few times for low and slow cooks. It smoked a LOT. More than normal. As far as heat, it definitely put out plenty. It didn't last as long as I'd hoped.
Not sure if that helps...

Pattiodaddio on the BBQ brethren debunked most of the claims about the competition briquettes being superior to the blue bag. They were only better in one aspect, less ash.
With that being said, I'm a "strictly lump" guy, B&B oak for that matter. Briquettes just leave a bad taste to me , not to mention the heartburn also. Use what works best for you though. But who am I to judge anyone about spending more $$ on something that gives them the warm and fuzzies, I use oil in my Lawnmower that's $50 a gallon.
