I get mine at either Galvan's or Vasbinder's in Richmond. On the south side of Highway 90, in between Pitts Road and Harlem.

this guys sometimes has wood other than post oak - but that's mainly what he carries. sells them by the #50 bag, chunks and also cords:

I use Williams Firewood on Pinemont. The wood is good, and you can get what you want as far as amount goes. I usually get a 1/4 cord of post oak and a 1/4 of pecan. They will palletize it for you and shrink wrap and load it in your truck and you are off.

Update here fellas. Anyone looking for cooking wood needs to go to Williams. I went there this weekend and they have tons and tons of good wood. Red oak, white oak, post oak, mesquite, hickory, pecan, apple, peach, and cherry (Fruit woods are hit and miss). I got a nice 1/4 cord of Pecan for $115. Used it sunday and it produced a really nice flavor. Very happy with Williams Firewood.

I could be wrong, but that seems awfully high for wood.

there's also a wood lot on the NW beltway just south of 290/West Little York. it's a guy who sells wood using the honor system. he charges $10 for 20 pieces, you load your own and slip your cash in his mail slot if he's not around. i believe it's mostly oak - half seasoned, half green. pretty sure he takes in what tree service companies cut down except pines and other soft woods, but i've also seen some big rigs bringing in loads before as well. i've been getting my fire wood for the fire place from him for years - you know, because it gets so cold in houston that we actually need a fire wood guy for the fire place...(sarcasm). been meaning to swing by and check out his seasoned wood. occasionally he'll have some pecan, hickory or mesquite. here's a map below.

I buy my wood in Pearland right off 518 West of highway 35, can't think of the name of the place, but there is a Car Dealership right next to it.
