Inside BBQ trial......

Postby Jamie » Mon Nov 28, 2016 11:41 pm

Got locked in the house, raining outside, with. 6lb brisket thawed.....this might not be the place nor time for this, but I ended up being very pleased!!! Rubbed the whole brisket with sea salt and a nice BBQ rub blend, both sides thick. Then added (sorry) liquid smoke....I know, I know, it was raining and I had no roof over the cooker outside.....placed the chunk on the open rack of the oven with dripping pan underneath. Cooked at 225 deg for about 2 1-2 hours or until I liked the bark. Then placed in pan with coke a cola, lemon juice, worschershire sauce, raised temp to 255-260 and cooked an additional 4 hrs give or take a few....no "roast" taste at all, and can cut with a fork!!! Not the way I intended to cook the beef, but hey learned something new...... 8)

Sometimes you just have to improvise!! We made one once in the oven just like a roast with potatoes, carrots, and the whole works due to sickness and it came out great! Haven't done it since but it was good once.

Nice! I used to use my fireplace as my indoor BBQ pit when I could not cook outside due to rain. The wife said I was nuts, I thought it was genius :dont:

My wife still reminds me of the times I cooked roast chicken n the trimmings in a tent while out camping on a 2 burner gas stove.
She says they were the best roasts ever. Ya make do with what ya got. I'm good at adapting to my circumstances.
