Char Siu Pork.....WOW
I have to admit, even I was pretty shocked and impressed on just how great this method of cooking pork turned out to be.
So I grabbed an 8 lb bone in pork shoulder for 7 $ @ Wegmans and decided to give Char Siu a shot and glad I did. Picked up some Hoisin Sauce,Soy sauce,Chinese 5 Spice,Ginger Sriracha,Dark Brown Sugar,Red Food Coloring. Cubed the pork up and mixed it up for a 24 hr marinade.
Smoked at 275 on the Akorn with Pecan and R.O Lump til 145 internal temp, then cranked up the lump to 500 for a quick char/sear. Sugar caramelized and pulled at 165 and let sit for 15 minutes.
Final outcome pretty much blew our minds. The flavor from the marinade was intense, LOVE using the 5 Spice.
Definitely going on our MUST DO AGAIN list up near the top.
Idk, what do you all think about the very last 2 pics. Makes me wanna eat my Android lol

Chris, it pretty much took up 2 whole plates, it made a lot more than I was expecting.
Good thing for freezer bags, the foodsaver and the NuWave...
