I'm with KAM and Counselor HOWEVER, I also like to lay the smoke to them with my favorite tree wood

Get you a good rub and let the smoke roll. After it's pulled mix a little more rub in it for added flavor.

Since butt's not inherently dry like some other things (poultry breast, I'm pointing my finger at you!), we don't inject it.

I have experimented once with a brisket injection and liked the results. I've never injected a butt, BUT, that is not saying I will not. I am actually working on an injection I think will compliment the porkiness of the pork. Nothing like stock or anything, I'm thinking some fruity goodness. Citrusy-pineapple or something along those lines.. To be continued..

You hit the nail on the head txdragon. Something fruity. I'm not trying to moisten the meat but put a complementing flavor in the meat. Let me know how your experiment goes.

Orange/pineapple combination goes great with pork. I am going left field on this one and planning to add a bit of banana to it. Call it odd, but I did this by accident at one point. I had just taken a bite from a shoulder I was pulling and had been munching on a banana already. Then, I did it. Bite of pork, bite of banana
There was a wonderful contrast there that is hard to describe. I needed to test this on larger levels.. To the notebook it went. Orange, pineapple and banana cocktail juice is a regular thing at the grocery store, so I figured, why not?

Well, Tex, that sounds wonderful. May I suggest pureeing fresh squeezed orange juice with fresh pineapple juice adding an almost black banana (don't forget to peel it). The black banana has a much more concentrated banana flavor than the fresh yellow ones (according to my wife the world famous banana bread baker).
