Keep in mind as you're looking for Plate, Chuck, or whatever people want to call them. The chain stores will have no more than maybe 2 real butchers, 90% of the meat dept will be meat packagers. So be prepared to explain to them what you want in terms they will understand. Ask if they have short ribs, and then ask what they cut them from. Don't know how many times I've gone somewhere and asked for beef ribs, and first thing out of their mouth was NO. But then after backtracking the short rib route, I leave with my plate ribs.

It used to be trash and fed to prisoners in the pen, to the extent that they complained about having to eat it all the time..
Somebody started PR campaign, I think it was railroad related, to get the word out on how rare and expensive it really was/should be, and after a few years rich folk discovered it and prices were jacked.

I heard the EXACT same story. But it was crawfish instead of lobster.

This reminds me I've got a couple racks in the freezer…had to go to Waxahachie a month or so back so I hit up HEB. Don't remember what I paid.

Well of course they are - - - - it's right there on the label - - - - if they were not actually Dinosaur Bones then that would be false advertising and we know that a meat mkt would never do that  :laughing7:
