Has anyone tried to smoke one? I was going to give this a try if I can find a butcher that sells the rump cap. Any advice would be appreciated.

I had never heard that word but I googled and know what cut you're speaking of - - - my first thoughts were to grill it cut up into KaBob style

Hot and fast is the best way for this. Excellent cut, but not for slow cooks.
